MILD PERIL: A phrase pinched from the back of a video cassette case in the early 2000s. For me, it is the sense of the liminal in life, the collision of the mythic & the modern, the ‘twinge of cosmic angst’, the wyrdness that lurks in the bushes.

Music is my main magical manifestation, and since 2013, the PALADIN project has been an exploration of mythic themes through traditional electronic music. Wizard Disco is a term I coined for a particular type of synthesizer instrumental that I enjoy, but at other times I aim to illustrate something more mystical.

There have been a couple of side quests like the popular Body Party EP, and there could be more.

Once upon a time, I ran the probably-now-forgotten London club nights Future Brain (Italo Disco) and Endurance (Electronic Body Music). Maybe I’ll get back into disc-jockeying some day, but for now I’m obsessively cataloguing histories of cosmic music on the Wizard Disco Mixcloud.
